Windows 7 Quick Config

Windows 7 Quick Configuration Guide. This helps to remember all the things needed for a good and clean Windows 7 installation from scratch.

Before starting

This guide assumes that you already have a bootable UEFI USB with the preferred Windows 7 distribution.

Stage 1. Initial Config

1. Set language, time and currency format. Add keyboard and input method.
2. Accept license terms.
3. Select custom install.

• Use SHIFT + F10 to open cmd.exe.

select disk x
clean
exit

4. Wait for installation to finish copying files.

6. Set username + computer name (DESKTOP-VIA41AP).
7. User password + hint.
8. [OPTIONAL] Product key
9. Updates customization
10. Time and date check

Stage 2. Drivers & Essential Updates

• Install Ethernet + Audio + USB3 Drivers.
• Use NVCleanstall to install Nvidia drivers.
• Windows Update (windows6.1-kb3125574-v4-x64_2dafb1d203c8964239af3048b5dd4b1264cd93b9.msu).

Stage 3. Programs & User Files

Files

• Copy custom user files to %USERPROFILE% if needed.

Stage 4. System Customization

• Explorer: Tools, Hidden Folders, Favourites, Lists
• Aero: Enable Aero Theme
• Power Options: Check display and sleep settings
• Network: Set up Homegroup, customize network name, check privacy settings
• On-The-Go: Move shortcuts and apps to the Windows Start Menu
• Activation: Use Windows Loader / KMS services
• Driver: Check that Wake On Pattern Match is disabled
• Recycle Bin: Disable Confirm Dialog
• Indexing: Check Indexing options to include only essential folders
• Spotify Upds Block: Check
